If you’re looking for quality free gifts in Second Life, make sure your avatar joins the Subscribe-O-Matic at Hoorenbeek’s main store. The shop, which specializes in men’s fashion with a side of women’s fashion, offers freebies to group members who’ve joined its subscribe-o-matic (the sign you see in the lower part of the image).
Click on the subscribe-o-matic to join the group. You’ll receive a free gift instantly. Wait two weeks and then come back to get the regular featured freebies. Don’t unsubscribe from the subscribe-o-matic. If you keep your avatar’s name in the system, you can come back periodically to get more free stuff from Hoorenbeek.
At the time of this posting, the guy freebie was a pair of hiking boots, and the girl freebie was a pair of black leather boots.
Lots of shoes for Purrfect 10 group members
The Purrfect 10 main store in Second Life has some very generous gifts for members of its two groups: the free and paid VIP groups.
To join the free group, click the in-store sign (as shown above), follow the on-screen instructions to join the group, then, with the group tag active, click the image of the shoes to receive your free gift.
For those who have a little linden cash in their accounts, join Purrfect 10′s VIP group. For the L$510 group join fee, members receive 25% off every purchase of regular priced shoes when wearing the group tag, plus access to exclusive VIP items and at least 10 VIP gifts each year. Currently, there are 12 pairs of shoes available for VIPs to grab… at the L$510 group fee, that’s only L$43 per pair! A steal for high-quality sculpted shoes in SL. And, a great deal for anyone just starting out in the game.

It’s amazing the number of avatars walking around in Second Life® looking like they’ve got a stick up their bum. Why? Because they aren’t wearing an AO or animation override.
I talked about the importance of AOs in the free virtual world of 2nd life in a recent post and gave you a heads up about the top three free AOs I’ve found.
Here’s one more to add to the list. A quick visit to Sylva’s Animation Factory will net you male and female AOs absolutely free. Yep, that means no lindens needed! Not even one linden! Great for noobs who are starting with zero linden in his or her pockets. And, they are pretty good with each of them containing 12 different stands as well as sits, walks and runs. Find these AOs around the perimeter of the landing area.
With these and other AOs available for free, there’s no excuse to walk around looking like a dork in the online virtual world!
